Rectangular Stirrup Cutting Length Calculator
This calculator is used to calculate the cutting length of rectangular stirrups used in RCC beams and columns.
Input Details
Clear width of stirrup measured horizontally.
Clear depth of stirrup measured vertically.
Diameter of reinforcement bar used for stirrup.
Hook length is generally taken as 10d or 12d according to detailing practice.
Calculation Result
Formula Used
Cutting Length = 2 × (Width + Depth) + 2 × Hook Length − Bend Deduction
Hook Length = Hook Multiplier × Bar Diameter
Bend Deduction = 8 × Bar Diameter
Explanation of Values
- Width: Horizontal inside dimension of stirrup.
- Depth: Vertical inside dimension of stirrup.
- Bar Diameter: Diameter of reinforcement bar used for stirrup fabrication.
- Hook Length: Additional length provided for anchorage at stirrup ends. Usually taken as 10d or 12d where d is bar diameter.
- Bend Deduction: Reduction in length due to bending of reinforcement bar. Commonly approximated as 8d for rectangular stirrups.
