Important Formula Concept
- All cutting lengths are measured along the centerline of reinforcement.
- Clear cover must always be deducted from overall dimensions.

Standard Hook Length:
- 90° Hook = 8D to 10D
- 135° Hook = 10D to 12D

Standard Bend Deduction:
- 45° Bend = 1D
- 90° Bend = 2D
- 135° Bend = 3D
- 180° Bend = 4D
- IS 2502 and SP-34 should be followed for accurate BBS preparation.
Rectangular Stirrup
CL = 2(x+y) + 2(Hook) − 6D
- x = Overall Width − 2 × Cover
- y = Overall Height − 2 × Cover
- 2 Hooks provided.
- 2 bends of 135° → Deduction = 6D
Circular Stirrup
CL = 2πr + 2(Hook) − 6D
- r = (Diameter ÷ 2) − Cover
- 2 Hooks provided.
- 2 bends of 135° → Deduction = 6D
Triangular Stirrup
CL = (2S+x) + 2(Hook) − 9D
- S = √[(x/2)² + H²]
- 3 bends of 135° → Deduction = 9D
- Used in special RCC detailing.
Diamond Stirrup
CL = 4S + 2(Hook) − 12D
- S = √[(x/2)² + (y/2)²]
- 4 bends of 135° → Deduction = 12D
- Used in seismic detailing.
